Prague, Czech Republic
April 17 – 19, 2012
COINAPO was kicked-off in November 2009 and currently comprises about 50 research groups from 26 countries. The main aim of the COINAPO is to generate fundamental knowledge in the field of inorganic nanotube–polymer composites and to create widespread links needed for application and commercialization of this kind of composites by European industry.
The 4th MC meeting of our Action will be held on April 20, 2012 (9:00–13:00). It will follow the Workshop of all Working Groups, which will be held on April 17–19, 2012 at the same venue. The focus of the MC meeting will be mid-term evaluation of the Action activities and results. Besides this, strategic plans and priorities for the remaining two years will be defined.
The venue of the COST MP0902 Workshop and Management Committee Meeting will be the main building of the Institute of Physics, Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic, Pod Vodarenskou vezi 1, 182 21 Prague 8 (map) in the northern part of Prague.
The venue is conveniently located within easy walking distance from the Metro (Underground) station Ladvi. It takes only 15 minutes to reach the historical city centre by the Metro.
During the workshop days you can visit our canteen Dora Gastro (see the map below). They usually offer 5 meals, vegetable plates for vegetarians, salads etc. The price is typically 75–100 CZK (which corresponds to 3–4 EUR), the meal is to be paid directly in the canteen in cash (in CZK only, they do not accept EUR).
The Workshop dinner will be held in Restaurant U Balbinu (unfortunately its website is in Czech only), Jungmannova 22, Prague 1 (Metro line B, station Mustek, exit Jungmannovo namesti). The restaurant serves mainly traditional Czech cuisine and despite its location in Prague city centre, the prices are very reasonable (dinner including beverages costs from approx. 9 EUR and you can pay in EUR as well as in CZK).
Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic, is well known for its historical monuments, classical architecture and rich cultural heritage that continues today in many theaters, concert halls, opera houses and galleries. Come and discover this wonderful city and walk in the footsteps not only of Franz Kafka and Antonin Dvorak but also of Tycho de Brahe, Johannes Kepler, Bernard Bolzano, Christian Doppler, Albert Einstein, Jaroslav Heyrovsky, Vladimir Prelog and others.
Bus 119: Prague Airport (Letiste Ruzyne) → Dejvicka (end stop of the bus and Metro line A terminal), then take Metro: Dejvicka → Muzeum (5 stations), then take Metro line C to Ladvi (6 stations) which is within easy walking distance from the Institute. The journey takes about 1 hour including. Bus stops are situated directly in front of both airport terminals.
Prague public transport is fast, efficient and frequent. Metro and most daily trams and buses operate every day from 5 AM till midnight. Night trams and buses (line numbers beginning with 5) operate throughout the night. Similar to most capitals, the concentration of picpockets is elevated, be aware in the historical centre as well as on your route from/to the airport.
Tickets:
Basic fare of 32 CZK (approx. 1.30 EUR) entitles the holder to use all means of public transport (Metro, trams, buses and cable car to the Petrin hill) for up to 90 minutes including unlimited number of changes. The ticket must be validated using a yellow box while entering the first bus or tram, or while first entering designated area in Metro. After validation, just keep the ticket with you.
Tickets can be purchased at:
When entering the bus, remember to validate the ticket.
The fast bus line operates daily from 5 AM till 10 PM in regular intervals of 30 minutes. The bus stops at Prague Airport → Dejvicka (Metro A) → Masarykovo Nadrazi railway station (Metro B) → Prague Main Railway Station (Metro C). The fare is 50 CZK or 30 CZK if travelling just between the airport and Dejvicka Metro terminal.
From Dejvicka Metro terminal, use Metro and tram as described under Public transport.
The journey from the airport to Malostranske namesti (Small Side square) or any of the recommended hotels takes less than half an hour and should cost around 500 CZK. The taxi rank of both official airport companies (AAA radiotaxi and Radiocab) is situated directly in front of the airport terminal. For the journey back, we strongly recommend ordering a taxi from your hotel reception rather than finding a cab in the street.
All principal railway stations are situated along Metro stations. There are only 3 Metro lines in Prague (A, B, C) so it is not difficult to reach Ladvi station (line C).
If you decide to take a taxi, we strongly recommend ordering one rather than finding a cab in the street. For AAA radiotaxi, just call 14014 and wait 5–10 minutes until your taxi (yellow colour) picks you up.

 Registration: | February 29, 2012 |
Abstract submission: | February 29, 2012 |
Acceptance notification: | March 9, 2012 |
Workshop: | April 17, 2012 |
Management Committee Meeting: | April 20, 2012 |
There is no conference fee. The registration and abstract upload is now closed, see the Deadlines section. The Workshop organizers would like to thank all the participants for their contributions.
As usual for COINAPO meetings, all participants from COINAPO member countries assigned for oral contribution will be fully reimbursed according to the standard COST travel reimbursement rules. Other participants can potentially be fully or partially reimbursed only in the case of budget surplus.
A general rule for WG1–WG4 meetings is that a maximum of 2 people from the same country from the same WG can be reimbursed, which in practice means a total of max. 8 people from the same country can be reimbursed (as they can always be formally redistributed into various WGs). This rule is valid also for people from the local organizing country.
Only 2 representatives from every participating country can participate in the MC meeting and also be reimbursed. This means if for instance both MC members from Italy will be present, MC substitute members can participate to MC meeting – but only as observers and they cannot be reimbursed. The possibilities per country are as follows: both MC members, one MC member and one MC substitute member, or 2 MC substitute members. 3 or more people from the same country cannot actively participate to the MC meeting and be reimbursed, even if they have a status of MC member/substitute member.
The abstract should be a one page (A4) Microsoft Word document in a *.doc or *.rtf format, Arial font type, font sizes: title 14pt, other text 12pt. It may also include figures. The deadline for the registration and abstract submission was February 29, 2012. For further information about the deadlines please see the Deadlines section.
There will be two types of oral presentations - long oral (invited, 40 minutes including discussion) and short oral (20 minutes including discussion).
Standard facilities are available for oral presentations: conference PC laptop computer with Microsoft Windows operating system, data projector and laser pointer. The following presentation file formats are supported:
In exceptional cases, your own laptop can be used.
Hint: Consider providing your PowerPoint presentation in a PPS format so that it starts automatically as a slide show.
The poster boards are 100 cm wide and 120 cm high (including edging frame) so the maximum poster size is approx. 96 × 116 cm. Please do not use self-adhesive tapes or Velcro which will not work. Pins will be available on site.
All posters will be displayed throughout the whole duration of the Workshop. There will be two poster sessions on Wednesday (afternoon coffee break) and Thursday (morning coffee break).
No pre-arranged accommodation will be organized. A list of hotels and guesthouses within reasonable distance from the Institute of Physics ASCR is provided here. All rates are approximate only, quoted per room per night including VAT. The accommodation options are listed according to the distance from the Workshop venue.
